The UltraLase Hollow Waveguide CO2 laser fibers come in two special sizes, 500/300 microns, and a 1.2-millimeter diameter silica-based fiber delivery system that transmits CO2 laser and visible aiming beams for surgical applications. These cases are often referred to as bloodless surgeries, allowing surgeons to focus on a small area, thereby reducing surgical time, bleeding, postoperative pain, edema, and the risk of infection.
The UltraLase CO2 waveguide laser fibers are highly flexible. The inner coating supports CO2 laser transmission, with a robust outer protective layer and sheath. The fibers allow for energy transmission of over 80% in a straight state and over 70% in a bent state.
Surgical laser fiber delivery systems are becoming an effective, viable, and versatile option for surgical CO2 lasers. Visibility, accuracy, and precision reduce the likelihood of burns and accidents.
L.E. has collaborated with Rutgers University to develop and manufacture a Non-HeNe fiber guide, as well as a HeNe-Aiming beam to enhance visual visibility.
L.E. has developed a complete set of accessories to support the use of fibers. These include a new dual-shutter adapter for existing laser conversions on MD lasers, adapters for most other laser handpieces, and robotic controllers for surgical applications.
